Obituary for Vanra Decker

Decker, Vanra 74, passed away on January 5, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at Florida Hospital, in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Vanra was born September 2, 1943 in Charleston, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mavournee and Joe Grimes of Paris, Kentucky. Vanra received her Bachelor of Arts in Librarian Science from West Virginia University where she was a proud member of Chi Omega Sorority. Following graduation she worked for the Department of Defense in Fort Meade, Maryland. She was active with the National Society Children of the American Revolution, where she served on the National, State and Local Society level in Florida and Maryland. She was also active in the Daughters of the American Revolution in both Florida and Maryland. In 1981 she married Chuck Decker of Silver Spring, Maryland. She loved traveling and was fortunate to visit many places. She was most happy when she was sailing on cruise ships playing the slot machines with her loving husband. Vanra is survived by her husband of 37 years and her children Diana Decker Brokaw (Michael), Chris Decker Millender (Ron), Robert R. Smith IV (Christine) and Tish Smith Worrell and nine grandchildren. She will be interned next to her parents in Paris, Kentucky. There will be a graveside service on January 11, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Paris Cemetery Chapel, 1603 Main St. Paris, KY 40361 by Clay Leonard. Burial will be in Paris Cemetery. Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home in charge of the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grammy's Book Fund/Chase Bank C/O Mr. Charles F.
