Obituary for Marlene Gayle Summers Jackson

Marlene Gayle Summers Jackson was called to be with God on Tuesday February 20, 2018. She was born in North Middletown, KY on December 20, 1937 to the late Emily Katherine Frye Summers and John Enoch Summers. Marlene was five-years-old when her mother died and was raised by her maternal grandparents, the late Sally and Cooper Frye Sr.
She is a graduate of Western High School, Paris, KY. She worked for Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government for several years before going to college full time at Eastern Kentucky University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. She retired in 2004 from Bourbon Heights Nursing Home.
A strong woman of faith, Marlene was a member of North Middletown Second Christian Church until it dissolved. She then became a member of Seventh Street Christian Church, Paris, KY where she was active in multiple groups and bible studies until she was diagnosed with cancer in 2016. At that time, she relocated to Rock Hill, SC with her daughter for treatment.
Marlene Gayle Summers Jackson leaves cherished memories to her children Craig Summers of Minneapolis, MN; Neil (Leslie) Jackson, Mary Jackson both of Paris, KY; Roberta (Herman) Hutsell of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren Terrance Summers of Minneapolis, MN; Rachel Summers of Los Angeles, CA; Neileasha, Victoria and Marcus Jackson all of Paris, KY. Great grandchild Brayden Summers of Minneapolis, MN. Two brothers, John and Charles Summers of Phoenix, AZ. She was raised as a sibling to her 1st cousins on her maternal side (Conner, Mack, Stevenson children) and had strong loving bonds with all her relatives. She was married to the Late Robert Jackson Sr., where she gained nine additional children and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She fought hard against lung cancer. During this fight, she showed constant trust and faith in God. Marlene would read her bible and pray faithfully every day, even when she could barely raise her head or walk. Her mantra to get through each day was “WHAT GOD HAS FOR ME IS FOR ME.”
She is now able to rest in the arms of our Lord and Saviour in heaven.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday February 24, 2018 at the 7th Street Christian Church, 122 W. 7th St., Paris, KY by Rev. William Garr. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM Saturday February 24, 2018 until the hour of service at the church.
Burial will be at a later date at the Prescott Cemetery, North Middletown, KY.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Conner II, Kim Stevenson, Langston Stevenson, Mario Paul, Nicholas Conner, Robert Conner, Travis Stevenson, William Michael Conner.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles “BaBa” Mack, Larry Conner, George Stevenson, William “Bill” Conner, Craig Jefferson, Edmond Royce, Mitchell Royce, Jeff Royce, Brian Royce, Charles “Tommy” Walker.
The funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY 40361.
